Mr. Albert Perkins

Albert Perkins was born in Atkinson County, Georgia, October 5, 1926. He was the fourth of eight children born to the late Jeneral and Lizzie Perkins. He heard his heavenly Father’s call and departed this life November 18, 2016. Albert Perkins was a successful entrepreneur and field manager with 45 years of business experience. He obtained training from Tyler Barber College in Tyler, Texas and Savannah State College School of Masonry in Savannah, Georgia. For eighteen years, he was the proud owner of Perkins Masonry Construction Company where he worked on a number of major office complexes, including the Atlanta Airport concords. Albert always had a love of baseball and as a young man had an opportunity to play in the semiprofessional Negro League. It is, therefore, no surprise that in retirement he became an usher for the Atlanta Braves at old Stadium and later Turner Field. His love for the game and his service to the Atlanta Braves often garnered him accolades like “Usher of the Month” as well as many others. Albert gave his life to Christ Jesus at an early age at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist church in Willacoochee, Georgia. Albert was a help to many; God used him in many ways. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church for 45 years where he served as a member of the trustee board, was appointed chief usher and served on a number of other committees. It was his love for the Lord and family that sustained Mr. Perkins until his death. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 51 years, Eva Mae Perkins; two sons, Donn E. Perkins of Charlotte, North Carolina and George G. Perkins of Atlanta, Georgia. Albert leaves to mourn his earthly pathway to heaven, son, Mr. and Mrs. Larry L. Perkins, Sr. (Judith); daughter-in-law, Carolyn Diane Perkins; sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Williams and Willie Mae Perkins Matthews of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; brother, Reverend Willie Perkins and sister-in-law, Mrs. Marie Perkins of Willacoochee, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Dr. Tonya y. Perkins, Larry L. Perkins, Jr., Donn L. Perkins, Rebekah A. Perkins, Sarah C. Perkins, Leah N. Perkins, Joshua I. Perkins, and Gerald L. Perkins; four great-grandchildren, Danyaal and Aliyah Perkins (Ms. Kelly Diggs), Antonia and Avery Ponder (Antoria Ponder); special nephew, Otis Johnson; special niece, Desiree Fortune; long-time caregiver, Paulin
