Obituary

Benjamin Moore Sr was born on June 7th, 1952 in Douglas Georgia to the late Leviticus and Annie Laura Moore.
Ben as he was lovingly called was a hard worker, he worked as a carpenter for Fleetwood Homes, Tecumski, Coats and Clarks and Wal-Mart, retiring in July 2012. Ben was a lifelong member of Young’s Chapel Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Booker T. Rose Jr.
Ben and Barbara Carter Moore started dating in 1987 and they were married September 21, 1996. There were two families that became one.
Ben was proceeded in death by his parents Leviticus and Annie Laura Moore and sister Wanda Elaine Moore Carter, father in law Jim Carter Sr., one brother in-law, Hilton Huff Sr, and a son in-law, Jason Major.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, with whom he spent thirty-three years, Barbara A. Carter Moore. Seven children Keisha Newton of Hinesville Ga., Benjamin (Avia Lynn) Moore Jr. of Douglas Ga., Corey (Kristie) Moore of Atlanta, Ga., Kazz (Cindy) Brockington of Douglas, Ga., Monica Carter of Valdosta, Ga., Shakonda (Deangelio Brown) Bellamy of Douglas, Ga., Nicosha Major of Ocala, Fl. His mother-in-law Mrs. Florence Carter Jackson of Douglas, Ga., One sister, Mary Ann Huff of Douglas, Ga., two brothers, Leviticus (Cynthia) Moore Jr. of Fitzgerald, Ga., and Charles (Tangellia) Moore of Atlanta, Ga. Three sisters-in-law: Angela (Phillip) Morgan, Tammy Graves, both of Douglas, Ga., and Judy Slater of Lake City Fl. Six brothers-in-law: Jim (Carolyn) Carter, Daniel Carter, Charles Carter, Bruce (Coretta) Carter, Steve Carter, and Mark Graves all of Douglas, Ga., Special brother and sisters, Anthony (April) Felton and Randell (Krystal) Carter both of Jacksonville Fl., Godson, Darrius Lewis of Statesboro, Ga. Seventeen grandchildren, three of whom he helped to raise; Ja’Kiyrah Bellamy, Zorian Sutton, and Zyan Sutton, all of Douglas, Ga., One great-grandson, Kyler Bellamy, one Aunt, Mattie Solomon, nieces Aliyah and Aneisha Burchett, nephew Anthony and Isaiah Carter all of Douglas, Ga., and a host of sorrowing nieces, nephews and friends.


It is with great sadness that we announce passing of Mr. Benjamin Moore, the husband of Barbara Moore , on Sunday, March 22, 2020. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to the Moore family during their time of bereavement. Graveside Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2020 at City of Douglas Cemetery in Douglas, Georgia.
