Catherine and was born January 16, 1940 in Coffee County, Georgia to the late Benny Sams and Gladys Spencer Sams Coley. Catherine was preceded in death by ten siblings: Jessie Mae, Daisy, Eunice, Mary Jeanette, Rena Mae, Linda, Marvin, Paul and John (Arlee) Coley.
Catherine joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. She attended public school at George Washington Carver Elementary and High School. She employed as supervisor of housekeeping at Holiday Inn Hotel for many years until her health failed. Catherine was a very talented cook and she loved baking. She was an active and independent, fun loving person. Some of her closest friends growing up were: Elvenia Clay, Alice Daniel, and Clara Montero who are still loyal to her this day.
Catherine leaves to cherish her special memories: One daughter, Priscilla Stewart of Fitzgerald GA; Three grandchildren: Adrian Strouse, Larry Pope, and LaTasha Pope all of Fitzgerald GA; Six great-grandchildren: Kwanzaa Carver, Travariez Stanley, Jaquavious Pope, Miracle Pope, Larisha Pope and Christian Williams. Five sisters: Joan (Sheldon) Pratt of Wakefield, RI; Clara Montero of Franklinton, NC; Rebecca Geraldine Coley Hamlin of Ft. Washington, MD; Annette Seals of Columbus, GA; and Olivia (Tony) Pearson of Douglas, GA; Four brothers: Henry David Coley of Douglas, GA; Dennis (Denise) Coley of Bloomfield, CT; Bobby Levon Coley of Aiken, SN and Charles Coley Gomillion of Washington, DC. Special sisters and family friends: Pastor Elvenia (Apostle Billy) Clay of Douglas, GA; Juanita (D.L.) Williams of Ambrose, GA; Stella Mabry of Douglas, GA and Lee Bertha Foster of Columbus, GA; And a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.
