Mr. Christopher Columbus Woodbury made his transition from this earthy life on Sunday, November 5, 2017. He was born on July 3, 1930 in Nicholls, GA. Coffee County to the proud parents of the late Archie Woodbury & Nettle King.
Mr. Woodbury was raised by the late Betty McGowen in which he went to school and when old enough, worked as a vehicle loader at the Carmichael Service Station in Nicholls, GA. 1947-1951. He was drafted into the US Army in 1951 and served 6 years in which he did a tour in the Korean War. He was discharged honorably in 1957 with the rank of Sergeant.
Christopher met and married Myrtle Jean Everett in 1951 and after his tour in the Army, moved to Bronx, New York to become a Certified Electrician, He retired from Local 32-E Union as a Superintendent in 1987. Mr. Woodbury was a member of St. James AME Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent and Steward Pro tem until his death.
The union between Christopher and Myrtle brought about 5 children.
Mr. Woodbury was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Myrtle Jean Woodbury, two sons Darrick Ronald Woodbury, and Mahlon X. Woodbury. One sister in law Margaret Woodbury, two brothers Vernon Woodbury and Herbert A, King, One sister Juanita Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories, Three children Myrtice Belinda (Edward) Harris of Alma, GA, Rodney Avila Woodbury and Deborah Faye Bonaparte both of Nicholls, GA, Ten Grandchildren, Eighteen Great Grand Children, Five Great, Great Grandchildren. One brother; Samuel B. (Barbara Ann) King, Jr. of Nicholls GA who stood with him to the end. One brother in law Harry Everett, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio. Two very close cousins Ilea Howard of Atlanta, GA and Ludic Mack of Brunswick, GA. One life-long friend, Curtis (Kingpin) Graham of Bronx, New York, Two God Children, Lydia & Kevin A. Fowler of Bronx, New York, his nurse Katoria Grady of Douglas, GA, his adopted family Rev. McRae (Deborah) Mangum Jr., Christopher and Christian Mangum of Pooler, GA and a host of relatives and other friends.
