Mrs. Cloteal Gandy of Pearson, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 following and extended illness.
Sister Cloteal Davis Gandy was born May 2, 1941 to the late Thomas and Janie Mae Edwards in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
At an early age she joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Pearson, Georgia. She served faithfully on the usher board until her health began to fail. She was preceded in death by the late Alfred Davis. She later met and married Theodis Gandy, Jr. in the year of 1997, he also preceded in death. One brother, Cleo Edwards who passed away at an early age, also preceded her in death.
Cloteal attended school in Atkinson County and graduated from high school in Newark, New Jersey. She later attended Fort Valley State University. She was employed for several years at the Nashville Mills, a long time teacher’s aide at Atkinson County High School, and a devoted receptionist at Dr. Russell’s medical office for seventeen years.
She leaves to mourn, one son, Deron (Sherika) Ward of Pearson, GA, one uncle, Larry (Angela) Brinson of Douglas, GA, eight grandchildren, and one great grandson. A Godson, Larry Brinson, Jr. Two favorite nieces Callise Sims of Douglas, GA and Georgia Washington of Pearson, GA, two dutiful friends Mae Bell Lock and Essie Davis of Pearson, GA, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2015, Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Pearson, Georgia.
