Mr. George Jacobs, III was born the first child of the late George Jacobs, Jr. and Johnnie Mae McIver Jacobs Barney on June 17, 1962 in Perry, Georgia. He joined Tallahassee Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1978. He was a faithful employee of Hazlehurst Mills for 25 years before the company closed. He worked diligently for the Georgia Department of Corrections at Georgia State Prison (GSP) and Appling Integrated Treatment Facility (AITF) for 14 years. He was an accomplished bass guitar player and played locally with the band “Kinfolk”. He was united in marriage to Doris Ann Jacobs on December 18, 1987. He passed into his eternal rest on November 18, 2015.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife, Doris Ann Jacobs, two step-children Mr. Eric Cray (Arlena) of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Nicole Boston (Everett) of Vidalia, Georgia. Three brothers, Mr. Reginald Jacobs (Jackie) of Columbus, Georgia, Mr. Rodrick Barney (Linda) of Hazlehurst, Georgia and Mr. Ricky Harvey (Sandra) of Macon, Georgia. Four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Onetha Wooten Hall of Brooklyn, New York, Ms. Betty Brantley (Pete) of Bronx, New York, Mrs. Carol McKiver (Harry) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Mrs. June Cummings (Lawrence) of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. One brother-in-law, Garry Brantley of Brooklyn, New York. Seven Grandchildren, Rochelle, AJ, Cire, Micah, Brooklyn, Sanaa, and Bryce and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. George Jacobs III of Hazlehurst, Georgia passed away on Wednesday,
November 18, 2015. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday evening,
November 24th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Tallahassee Missionary Baptist Church
in Hazlehurst, Georgia. Funeral service for Mr. Jacobs will be held at 1:00 pm
on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Tallahassee Missionary Baptist Church in
Hazlehurst, Georgia. Burial will follow at the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
