On February 22, 2016, God’s Angels went to Waycross, Georgia to bring home His beloved son, Mr. Herman Smith, Jr. He was born June 8, 1936 to Mr. Herman Smith Sr. and Essie Mae Payles Smith. He joined Little Rock Baptist Church at an early age. Herman attended school in Waynesville, Georgia and also went to school at Center High in Waycross, Georgia. He gave God Glory; he was on the Battlefield for the Lord as a true warrior for God. In 1960 he married Annie Pearl McIver and was married for fifty-six years. His love for his fellowman was evident in his service. If he saw you he always had a word for you and it was truly all about Jesus. Our beloved loved others as God loved him. He worked at Brunswick Pulp and Paper Company for forty years and drove the school bus for sixteen years.

He had one son, Recardo (Pam) Smith of Waycross, GA; one daughter, Pamela Strickland of Midway, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bobby (Yvonne) McIver, John (Shirley) McIver, Betty Jean Yarbrough and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.


Visitation will be 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Zion Rock Baptist Church, Brunswick, GA; Funeral services will be held 11:00 am at Zion Rock Baptist Church on Friday, February 26, 2016. Arrangements are entrusted to McIver’s Funeral Home Inc. Douglas, GA;
