L.J. ,Lewis James Lee was born on January 22, 1928 in Ware, County to the late Lillie B. Lee and Thomas J. Lee. L.J. joined Greater St. James Church at an early age, where he served as chairman Deacon. He was a retired custodian from Bacon County School System.

He was married to Elizabeth Waites Lee, who preceded him in death. He gained his wings on November 16, 2016 at his residence following a brief illness.

He leaves to mourn: Four children: Rose Mary Davis, Linda Wright, Booker (Laura) Waites all of Alma, GA; and Marie English of Americus, GA; Sister-in-law, Martha Lee; Ten grandchildren; Twenty great grandchildren; Two great-great grandchildren; A special niece Loretta Drummond and a host of nieces and nephews. One God granddaughter, Bonnie Quiceno, one very special friend Faye Mullis Smith.
