On Saturday, November 3rd 1934 was a beautiful and blessed day when Mrs. Mary J, King was born to her late Mother Genetha Phillips Ivery and Father Roy Ivery. Her brothers Julian, Johnny Willie and sister Mae Ola preceded Mary in death.
Mary attended Monitor High School in Fitzgerald, Georgia as well as Alfred E. Beach High School in Savannah, Georgia. She went on to marry to Mr. Samuel C. King Sr (Jack). Marry was a homemaker who raised her two boys until her divorce in 1976. She went to work in Hilton Head, South Carolina, New York city, New York, and internationally in Europe as housekeeper. For her final twenty-four years of her life she resided in Dayton, Ohio with her youngest son Michael, his wife Lisa, and her grandson Mike Jr. Mary was a member of “The Castle” for twenty years and Saint Leonard’s living community for the past four years. She enjoyed many memories of faithful fellowship with friends from both organizations. Mary had a heart to help, her selfless service and gracious gratitude is the highlight of the loving legacy she leaves.

She leaves a life and legacy of love to cherish along with precious memories: Her two sons, CSM (Ret) Samuel C. King Jr. and his wife Mrs. Cynthia King of Smith Station, AL. as well as Mr. Michael King and his wife, Mary’s loyal daughter in love Mrs. Lisa King of Dayton, OH: one sister Mrs. Mod`estine Jones of Fitzgerald, GA. Mary had six grandchildren La'Kesha Green, Samuel Green, Samoria Simpson, Shameka (King) Mattox, Michael King Jr and PFC Samuel C King III, along with five great grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
