Edgar A. Johnson, Sr., the seventh child of ten born to the late Brawns (Sam) Johnson, Sr. and the late Lissie Mae Vickers Johnson on March 12, 1948 in Atkinson County, Georgia.
A Time to Serve God — Revelations 14:7
At an early age, Edgar A., Sr. confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Edgar A., Sr. attended the public schools in Coffee County, Douglas, Georgia, graduating with honors in 1966.
College Education
B.S. Degree in Biology from Fort Valley State University (Fort Valley College), Fort Valley, Georgia
Master’s Degree in Biology from Tuskegee Institute, Tuskegee, Alabama
A Time to Cherish — I Corinthians 7:3
Edgar A., Sr. met his soulmate, Barbara Knight Johnson during their school days.
As the years progressed, they were united in holy matrimony, and to this union one son was born, Edgar A. Johnson, Jr.
A Time to Work
Edgar A., Sr. spent the majority of his working years (30 years plus) teaching Biology and serving as Head Track and Field Coach and also Football Coach at Shaw High School.

Besides his parents, Edgar A., Sr. was preceded in death by two sisters:
Bertha Mae Berry and Ruth Bea; four brothers:
Willie L., Bishop Alphonso , Moses, and Rural.
On Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Assisted Living and Memory Facility,Grayson, GA at 4:45 a.m. Edgar A. Johnson Sr. quietly made the transition from his earthly life to his prepared place for his eternal rest.
A Time to Mourn:
Among those who will miss Edgar A, Sr., and cherish his memories are his wife, Barbara K. Johnson of Columbus, Georgia; one son, Edgar A. Johnson, Jr. of Alpharetta, Georgia; one sister, Atteen J. Robinson of Albany, Georgia Two brothers, Brawns Johnson Jr. of Miami, Florida; and Hiram Johnson of Hahira, Georgia.
Four sisters – in-law Jean Johnson of Hahira, Georgia; Betty J. Johnson ( Bishop Alphonso) of Douglas, Georgia; Eloise Johnson (Willie L.) of Alvarado, Texas; and Betty J. Johnson (Moses) of Willacoochee, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his adopted Chatterjee family.
