Obituary

Roosevelt Graves, 80, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on July 13, 2015 in Coffee Regional Hospital, Douglas, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Sears Street Church of God by Faith, 1350 Sears Street, Douglas, Georgia with the Elder Timothy Warren, officiating. Burial will follow at Upton Cemetery, 4400 Hwy 32 W. Douglas, GA. Arrangements are by McIver’s Funeral Home Inc.

Roosevelt Graves was born in Coffee County, Georgia to the late Richard Graves and the late Viola Ashley on October 8, 1934. He received his education in the Irwin County School System. He served in the Army and was a veteran of Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the Army on August 1, 1957.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mary L. Warren on November 12, 1962. In 1998 he joined Gaines Chapel A.M. E. Church. He was proceeded in death by one daughter, Sheila Williams and by three brothers; Oliver, James, and Envirst Sr. Graves and two sisters; Gracie Lee Robinson and Clarine Graves.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His devoted wife of 52 years, Mary L. Graves. His eleven children: Linda Joyce Graham (Walter) of Douglas, Sharon Stafford(Gregory) of Coral Springs, Fl., Carmen Walker of Broxton, Darrell Graves (Cathalene) of Douglas, Ruth Pauline Davis of Douglas , Hiawatha Graves of Douglas, Richard Graves (Stephanie) of Pensacola, Fl. Tonya Mizell (Jelclancy) of Douglas, Gladys Simpson (John) of Atlanta, Ga., Richard Davis (Shirley), and Karen Moody of Douglas, Ga. Mr. Graves also raised a niece and nephew by the name of Audrey Warren and Kendrick Berry. He was also survived by three sisters. Irene Tucker (James) of Columbus, Ga., Penny Norwood of Savannah, Ga. and Juanita Watts of Brandywine, MD. Brother and Sister in laws; Tommy Warren (Marilyn), Kenneth Warren, Vivian McCrimmon (Theoda), Derrick Warren and Timothy Warren (Sarah) all of Douglas, Ga. He had twenty-six grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. He also had special devoted friends: Mr. Willie Gaskins, Mr. George Wilson and also the entire staff of McDonalds.
