Obituary

Staff Sergent Deacon David Brewton was born on July 25, 1947, in Ellabell, Georgia, as the fourth child to the late Mr. Willie Clyde and late Mrs. Ella Brewton. A proud retired veteran of United States Army, a devoted member and Deacon of Mt. Sinia Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jeremy Reliford. A son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Deacon Brewton was joined in Holy matrimony to Pastor Nancy Riley Brewton on October 25, 1976, and to this union they were blessed with a beautiful family On June 19. 2026 our heavenly father call Deacon Brewton to his heavenly home, peacefully departing his earthly home after battling a short illness. Deacon Brewton was surrounded by his family, friends and loved ones, as well as his devoted Pastor of Mt. Sinia Freewill Baptist Church, Pastor Jeremy Reliford. Deacon Brewton was preceded in death by his siblings, three brothers: Mr. Kayron Brewton, Mr. Charlie Brewton and Mr. Alexander Brewton, and one sister: Ms. Barbara Ann Brewton.

As a young boy David moved to Coffee County with his parents and siblings where he was educated and graduated from Carver High School in 1967. Upon graduating from high school, he attended both Ben Hill-Irwin Area Vocational Technical school and received numerous Certificates in varies fields of study. Attended Waycross-Ware Technical School graduating with a degree in Auto Body. Later in his journey he joined the United States Army and moved up in rank to be a Staff Sergent and accomplish a major goal by retiring from the United States Army in June 1995. After retiring from the military, he later perused a career with companies such as Douglas Foods, Campbell, Dutch Quality, Harvey’s Supermarket, Walmart Store, South Georgia State College, and finally ending his work career by retiring from Coffee Regional Medical Center.

He leaves to cherish his everlasting memories; a loving and devoted wife Pastor Nancy Brewton; his children: Latoya Brewton, Marquisa (Tracy) Spivey, Odell Dunnam, and Benny (Hazel) Riley; his siblings, Mrs. Bertha Holmes, Mr. Willie Clyde Brewton Jr., Ms. Linda Curtis and Mr. Nathaniel Brewton; as well as seven grandchildren: Quanisha Brewton, Quentavious Brewton, Quashanti Brewton, Jasmin A. Watts, L’Kala (Keylin) Wilson, Corey A. Riley and Marlon J. (Lakoshoa) Riley; he also leaves three great grandchildren: Marquis J. Holden, L’Kia D. Wilson and Kinston J. Brewton; Two sister in laws: Mrs. Alberta McKiever and Mrs. Mary (Robet) Sanks. Three brother in laws: Mr. Willie (Connie) Riley Jr., Mr. Charlie (Darquitta) Riley ,and Cleveland Riley; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
