Vernee Jean Pickett McFarlin was born August 20, 1952, the fifth child to the Late Mr. Lucious Pickett and the Late Mrs. Louis Marshall Pickett.

She attended elementary school in Holt, Georgia. Then she moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she finished high school and joined the U.S. Air Force. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. She met and married Berry McFarlin, November 29, 1975.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Samuel Pickett, Winford Pickett and Nathaniel Pickett; Two sisters: Peggy Glover and Ola Mae Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Berry McFarlin; Four children: Monterrio Donte' (Majah) McFarlin; Shontre McFarlin (Steven) Woodland; Fatima Scott (Bernard) Dorsey and Jamillah Khaliah Linkins; Two sisters Alinda Ewing and Christine Pickett; One brother, Cleon Pickett, all of Douglas, GA. She leaves two Aunts; Bedonia Marshall of Wray, GA and Dorothy Jordan Hartsfield of Apopka, FL. And one uncle Clyde Marshall of Wray, GA; Three grandchildren: Jalond Rasheed Linkins, Malan Monet McFarlin and Mia Chanel McFarlin; One great-grandchild, Jamir Rasheed Linkins; And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
